Dear visitors,
I am delighted to welcome you to the website of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Namibia for the State of Hesse.
Namibia has been part of my life in a very special way for many years. Through the partnership between the town of Pfungstadt, which I served as mayor for twelve years, and the town of Oshikuku in northern Namibia, I have experienced countless personal encounters, accompanied social projects and come to know the country with its impressive diversity and warmth.
Over the years, these encounters have given rise to close friendships and a deep understanding of the importance of international cooperation.
With my appointment as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Namibia for Hesse in April 2026 comes both the task and the personal commitment to further strengthen the relations between Namibia and Hesse and to bring people together.
As Honorary Consul, I want to be a point of contact: for Namibians in Hesse, for travellers and anyone interested, for companies and institutions, for social initiatives and for everyone seeking exchange with Namibia.
I look forward to building bridges between Namibia and Hesse together with many dedicated people.
Patrick Koch was born in Groß-Umstadt in 1976. He is married and the father of three grown-up children.
After completing secondary school, he studied at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in Kiel-Altenholz and subsequently worked as a public administration graduate with the criminal police in Schleswig-Holstein (State Criminal Police Office / criminal police station Flensburg).
In 2001 he transferred to the Hessian state police, serving as a detective chief inspector at the South Hesse police headquarters until 2008. Active in local politics since 1992, Patrick Koch was elected to the Hessian state parliament in 2008 as the directly elected representative of constituency 52 (Dieburg).
From 2014 he served as mayor of the town of Pfungstadt for twelve years. During this time, the climate partnership with the town of Oshikuku in northern Namibia developed into a lively and successful cooperation. Numerous citizens’ trips, social projects and personal encounters shaped the exchange between the two municipalities.
His many years of commitment led to close contacts with the Republic of Namibia, the Namibian Embassy in Berlin and numerous partners in politics, administration and society. In April 2026 he was appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Namibia for the State of Hesse.
